Gerry was my pre-student teaching placement teacher in 1998. She was such an encouraging and instructive part of my journey to becoming a teacher. Gerry was learning, growing, and trying new things until the end of her teaching career. She a teacher who was never satisfied to do what she had been doing for 40 years. She loved and respected her students so much and that guided her interactions with them and her lessons. For me, she provided a place to experiment and grow as I learned how to develop curriculum and how to teach it to students. The first time I ever taught anything was in her classroom. She tried to get me as her student teacher (My professor said at the time, "You are each other's biggest fan"), but the college wisely wanted me to gain middle school experience so I taught in another school. Gerry and I reconnected several times after I left teaching, and I was thankful for her support as I left the profession as well.

Gerry became a very dear and loved member of our prayer group. I live in Montana and one of the members of the group is going to use technology so I can be a part of Gerry's celebration of life. Prayers for the family as you release Gerry to continue her eternal journey.

I met Gerry at a workshop and enjoyed staying at her home many evenings. I traveled with her to Iowa as an assistant in her workshops. She was committed to her spiritual journey and was always seeking greater knowledge. Her energy will be missed, may she rest in peace and may her family be comforted remembering her love.

Saddened to hear of the passing of Ms. Sasse. Hands down my favorite teacher at Park Center and one of the reasons I went into education. She had a gift for recognizing potential in her students as well as the keen ability to bring it out of them.

Hi Taryn and family,
Danielle shared the loss of your Mom with me. It’s a difficult time, but good memories will soon take the place of your grief. One day at a time.
Take care of yourself and your family,
Stephanie
