Geraldine's obituary

Geraldine "Geri" Lee Norton, a beloved sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted woman of faith, passed away on February 2, 2025, at the age of 90 in Lansing, Kansas. Born on November 22, 1934, in Sabetha, Kansas, Geri lived a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.

Geri pursued her passion for sacred music at Kansas City Bible College, where she deepened her spiritual foundation and found her late husband, Clinton Norton. Her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life, and she was an active member of Colonial Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Missouri. She found great joy in Bible study and participating in church events.

Family was at the heart of Geri’s life. She is survived by her sister, Diane Ibbetson; her children, Allen Norton, Lisa Ryan, and Dana Solomonson; as well as 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren—with one more on the way—who brought immense joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Owen Spicher, and her husband, Clinton Norton.

Affectionately known as "Nana," Geri was fiercely independent and had a sharp wit that endeared her to all who knew her. Her sense of humor was infectious, bringing warmth and laughter into every gathering. She had a deep love for cooking and baking—her home often filled with the comforting aromas of homemade meals prepared with love. Whether sharing stories over a warm meal or baking treats for loved ones, Geri found happiness in creating cherished moments with family.

Beyond the kitchen, Geri had a passion for bird watching and reading. She found peace in observing nature’s beauty and could often be found with a book in hand. Her love for animals extended beyond admiration—she had a special place in her heart for rescue dogs who became loyal companions throughout her life.

Geri’s life was defined by kindness, devotion, and an unwavering commitment to those she loved. Her presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
