Geri's obituary

Geraldine Swainston Maughan was born in Afton, Wyoming on December 5, 1934 to Esther Burton and Warren Hughes Swainston. She resided in Billings, MT, returning to her Heavenly Father July 10, 2023 at age 88 years.

Her three siblings preceded her in death: Allen (2019), Madelyn (2013), Delecta (1943).

Geri grew up near Charlo, MT in the Mission Valley, and graduated from Charlo High School in 1953.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints throughout her life, including serving three missions: West Central States Mission, Germany, and Salt Lake City Family History.

She married Wayne Wright Maughan on 26 July 1955 in the Cardston Alberta Temple.

Her family was very important to her. She believed that “no other success can compensate for failure in the home”.

In addition to her many family responsibilities, she helped with potato harvest, and was the bookkeeper for the family farm enterprise.

She is survived by her children: Pam Dark, Ramona Smith, Loraine Nygard, Steven Maughan, Susan Shearer, Annette Wendt, Michele Haslam, Alicia Kelso, Matthew Maughan, 50 grandchildren, and 84 great-grandchildren.

She passed on July 10, 2023 in Billings, Montana. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne (2004), son Dale (1983), granddaughter Elizabeth (2001), and great- grandson Andrew (2010).

Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023 in Ronan, MT at 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 700 4th Southeast Avenue, Ronan, MT.
