It is with much sadness that the family of Geri Goodson announces her passing on December 25, 2023 at the age of 97. Geri is survived by her daughters Cindy and Nancy, grandchildren Stephen and Jordan, and great-grandchildren Ari and Norah. She was preceded in death by her son Edward, who left us in 1999. We would like to acknowledge her niece Emily, who was a great comfort to her.

We are grateful to all who loved her and enjoyed her incredibly quick wit and intelligence. We are also grateful to Christina, Jordan’s wife, who helped her write a memoir that captured her as a young woman in New York City and throughout her life in the South. We know she loved being present at Stephen’s wedding to Hannah Grace just a few weeks before her passing.

As a young mother in North Carolina, Geri and a friend started the Child's School of Fine Arts, where she taught three and four-year olds basic ballet steps and how to recognize the instruments in a symphony orchestra, among other arts-related pursuits. Geri’s love of the arts stayed with her throughout her life. A private memorial service will be held to honor our mother’s passing.
