Gerald's obituary
Devoted husband, loving dad, supportive grandfather, Gerald Eugene Zuck, 89, was ushered into heaven, Friday morning, January 12, 2024.
Gerald was born in Cherryvale, KS on November 15, 1934, the son of Thomas Zuck, Jr. and Viola (Volmer) Zuck.
He graduated from Ozark Christian College, Joplin, MO, in 1956 with a Bachelor of Sacred Literature Degree. He was baptized into Christ on December 19, 1950, in a revival meeting at the First Christian Church in Cherryvale. He was ordained in the ministry of our Lord on December 29, 1955. He has ministered in Severy, McCune, Valley Center, and Toronto, KS; Shattuck, OK; Springfield and Eldon, MO. and Omaha and Scottsbluff, NE. During his 69 years of ministry, he held over 125 revival meetings in ten states and internationllay in Russia. He concluded his ministry with New Hope Christian Church, Cherryvale, KS.
While attending youth group at the young age of twelve, Gerald met his teenage sweetheart, Shirley Nell. They married five years later at the First Christian Church, Cherryvale, Kansas on Sunday, May 24, 1953 at high noon and went on to have four daughters: Paula Allen, Pamela Cameron, Patti Maxwell, and Penny Spore; ‘bonus’ sons: Robert Maxwell and Mark Spore; ten grandchildren: Justin (Matissa) Cameron, Kristina (Keith) Schaffer, Terri (Brett) Higgins , Cassa (Brock) O’Cull, Logan Spore, Ethan (Ashton) Spore, Brianna Allen, D.J. Allen, Caleb Spore, Elisha Maxwell; fourteen great grandchildren: Tyreese, Troy, Kierah, Keithy, Ainsley, Aidan, Trey, Allyson, Gabriel, Koba, Blaize, Henry, Swaidyn, and Louie; and one great, great grandchild, Amíra Schaffer.
His honey, Shirley, preceded him in death on January 4, 2022, following more than 68 years of marriage.He leaves behind one brother, Lewis Zuck and a sister, Cheryl (Russell) Stuetelberg. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, three sisters and four brothers.
Mr Z was his name and teaching was his game. A comedian at heart, he never met a stranger. You would often find Gerald cheering for his beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers and New York Yankees.
Gerald was a God-loving man who excelled in encouraging and taking care of others. His greatest joy came from doing the Lord’s work and spending time with his family, often staying up late to play games.
Celebration of Life (funeral services) will be held on January 20, 11 am at New Hope Christian Church. Graveside to follow at 3:30 pm, Greenwood Cemetery in Eureka, KS.
The family will meet with friends for a visitation on Friday, January 19, 5-7 pm at New Hope Christian Church, 908 E. Fourth St. Cherryvale, KS.
