Gerald's obituary
Age 89, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on December 24, 2022. Jerry was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 16, 1933, the son of the late Roman and Helen. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Elizabeth (Joyce) Lex and beloved companion of Buddy (his dog). Father of Neal (Lori), Renee, Christine (Jim), Jeffrey and Valerie (Brad). Stepfather of Gary, Linda (Tony) and Brian (Patty). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren & step grandchildren, many great-grandchildren & great-great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James and grandson Andrew. Jerry is further survived by other relatives, friends and students.
Jerry was a very good man, always honest, hardworking, caring Christian. Admired by many and loved by many more. He will be dearly missed.
Jerry had a career as a Carpentry Shop Instructor for Milwaukee Area Technical College. He always loved sports, Baseball being his favorite, swimming and water skiing. He retired early and traveled the country with Joyce. They settled in Tucson, AZ for a while, then moved to Naturita, CO to be close to family. Here is where they bought their mountain side mini ranch, log cabin included. Oh, how he loved that place.
Sometime mid-December 2022, Jerry fell ill and with some coaxing, went in to get checked. Doctors diagnosed him with Leukemia. True to his Nature, he decided he would rather die at home with his wife than in a hospital. The Leukemia took him fast. Thank the Lord for with the help of his Colorado family; Gary, Linda (Tony) and his daughter Renee and Grand-daughter Danielle, he was able to be home. On Christmas Eve 2022, Jerry entered into the Kingdom of God our Father peacefully, in his mountain side home alongside the love of his life, Joyce.
