Jerry's obituary
Gerald O’Don, “Jerry” Kurtz, 83, of North Hollywood, California passed away peacefully on Monday, October 31, 2022, after prolonged and serious infections took his life.
Jerry was born June 9, 1939 in Columbia, Missouri, the first son of Walter O’Don and Jeanette Miller Morris Kurtz.
Jerry attended Fulton, Missouri and Milwaukee, Wisconsin public schools and attended and graduated from Western Military Academy in Alton Illinois. He received additional schooling in Southern California after high school.
Jerry worked at many of the theaters in and around Los Angeles, including the Hollywood bowl and the Greek theater. His main work for many years was in the theaters of UCLA. He was a senior stage manager, who worked with and served most of the great entertainers of his generation.
Jerry loved Southern California and all it had to offer, including horseback riding and roller skating. He was an accomplished solo and pairs roller skater. He was involved, too, in civic volunteer work throughout the Southern California area which included the 1984 Olympics.
Survivors include his younger brother, Denton Kurtz, nephew, Denton Kurtz, II, grand nephews, Quentin and Cameron Kurtz and sister-in-law, Gail Emmons Kurtz.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Arrangements for a memorial service and his internment have not been completed.
