Gerry's obituary

Gerry Kehoe (aka Gerald Wayne Kehoe) has passed on from this life to whatever lies beyond. His departure date was Saturday October 14. Gerry lived an amazingly full life. His was a rare and a generous nature, choosing silence rather than speak ill of anyone.

Like his father Cecil, he was a lifelong Democrat, and a staunch Union man. He served two tours in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam conflict. Afterward, he returned to his job at General Motors, where he worked until his early retirement.

Gerry may have had MS, but MS never had him. He refused sympathy, instead focusing on what was possible, or even probable. He was a Wacky Racer, a friend to all, a sympathetic ear. Nothing was more a delight to him than a group of friends over to swim, eat, drink, and play a little music to spice things up.

He leaves behind a wife, Theresa; stepson Joshua, his wife Diane and grandson Jonah; his siblings Mike, Lynda and Sandy; nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.

Gerry arranged to have his body donated to a study at Barnes/Washington University about the long-term effects of MS. He lived longer than anyone thought possible. And it is just like Gerry that the last act he will perform will be to help others learn through him. After they have completed their studies, his remains will be cremated and interred at home.

His home, dubbed “Fort Kehoe,” will be the location of his Irish wake, just as he planned. Please call the house and talk to Theresa about details.
