Gerald's obituary

After a valiant battle with cancer, Gerald Cardell Joseph Jr. passed away on February 26, 2020. Although he was only 45 years old at the time of his death, he had an impact on all who knew him and he will be missed everyday by his family and friends.

Born on August 20, 1974 to Gerald Joseph Sr. and Sandra Joseph in New Orleans, LA, Gerald was the oldest child of four children and was given the nickname “Too”. He grew up in New Orleans, attended Alfred Lawless High School and later went on to earn an Associates Degree from Blackstone University. During his lifetime, Too worked as a Certified Paralegal and was passionate about criminal justice reform and helping others. His God-given gifts and talents allowed him to launch several successful businesses, and he was considered a serial entrepreneur because of his bright ideas and ability to execute business strategies which included recent ventures in real estate investing. Faith was the cornerstone of his being as a student and devout member of Al-Islam. He was also known as Yusuf to his Muslim brothers.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sandra Joseph; maternal grandparents Peter and Mable Dave and paternal grandparents Marguerite Lewis & Leonard Lewis, Jr.

He is survived by his father, Gerald Sr.; brother, Jamal Joseph; sisters, Chandra Williams (Jimmy Jr.); Tiffany Joseph, three nieces, Taylor Roby, Lauren Roby, and Meagan Roby; and nephew, Carter “Ace” Williams.

The family would like to sincerely thank the brothers of The Islamic Center of New Orleans, Masijur Rahim and all those who prayed and exhibited other acts of kindness during our time of loss.
