Gary Aldrich, 69, of Marshalltown, Iowa, and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, passed away on July 30, 2023 in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Gerald Arthur Aldrich was born on August 5, 1953 in Waterloo, Iowa. He was the son of Eugene and Berneita (Wilkes) Aldrich. He attended school at East Waterloo high School and graduated with the Class of 1971. Gary joined the United States Army November 1972 and served during the Viet Nam War until March 1975.

He met and married Kaipolan Soares in Hawaii on the military base. To this union two sons, Gary Jr. and Leonard, were born. They later divorced. He later married Bernadine Spoden who passed away December 15, 2017. Before retirement Gary was employed as a construction worker doing concrete work most of his life. He loved to build things and do yard work, especially growing things. He also really loved Country Music.

Gary is survived by his long time friend and sister-in-law, Annette Fiddler, of Gilbertville, IA; sons, Gary Jr. of Hawaii and Leonard of Waterloo, IA; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers: Craig (Brenda), Rodger (Sharon) and one sister Renae Warner.  Also several nieces, nephews and their children.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Eugene & Berneita, His wife, Bernadine, brother-in-law Chris, and niece, Heather.

Gary will be buried at the Garden of Memories in Waterloo, Iowa, next to his parents Eugene & Berneita Aldrich.
