Jerry's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry, who left us on August 31, 2024.
Born on July 30, 1952, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Gerald and Wilma Adamietz.
The family later moved to Salt Lake City, Utah for several years, then to Edmonds, WA and finally settled in Spokane, WA.
In 1969, Jerry enlisted in the Army, where he achieved the rank of E3. During his service, he was stationed in Germany and earned recognition as a marksman with the M14 and a sharpshooter with the M16. He served as a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic (MOS 63B), showcasing his technical skills and commitment to his duties.
Jerry married Helen Marie Larson on January 29, 1977 and they have been married 47 years. He had attended Spokane Falls Community College after the Army, where he earned an Associate Arts degree in Business.
Jerry spent the majority of his career in the Civil Engineering Squadron at Fairchild Air Force Base, retiring after 39 years of service. He began his tenure in the commissary and later contributed to numerous projects across the base with his expertise and innovative solutions. He had advanced in his career to the position of Deputy Chief of Operations. Known for his dedication and commitment to quality, Jerry was also a mentor to many, guiding and inspiring his colleagues with his wealth of knowledge and experience.
Jerry was passionate and very successful at hunting; enjoying grouse, elk, deer, and moose hunting. He took his granddaughter fishing and target shooting.
He was actively involved with the Spokane COPS program and also dedicated time to hunter education, reflecting his love for the outdoors and commitment to his community.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Wilma Adamietz. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; his children, Jay (Maria), and Jackie; granddaughter Heaven; brother Eric (Linda), and sister Karin (Chuck).
Jerry will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and love for both his family and his community will continue to inspire those who carry his memory forward.
