Georgina "Gina" Verlie Johnson Socha, of Wilson, NC (formerly New Britain, CT) passed away on February 17, 2024, in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the age of 59. She was born on April 21,1964, in Burford Oxfordshire, England.

Gina, known affectionately as Nana, was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She spent her time crocheting beautiful blankets for her family and adopted loved ones. Gina had a passion for reading, watching crime shows, and praying for others as a member of the church prayer team. Her warm and caring nature made her the best Nana ever.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Thomas Socha Jr. Her daughters, Theresa Aloa-Leigh Small (Don) and Laura Eileen Fountain (James). Her grandchildren Ashlynn, Benjamin, Everett, and Hunter. Her brothers George Hunter Johnson, Ian Lockett (Sandra), her sisters Aloa Johnson, Cheryl Brady (Joe), Karen Dawson, and many special nieces and nephews. Also, special family members Hannah Crider, Samuel Crider, Lynette Miller, and many adopted children and grandchildren.

Gina was preceded in death by her father, George Everett Johnson of Four Oaks, NC, and her mother, Josephine Winifred Theresa Leach Johnson of Burford Oxfordshire, England.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Eastgate Church (Wilson Campus) on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Gary W. Combs officiating.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Eastgate Church Benevolence Fund or the American Cancer Society.

Cremation services were provided by Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Gina will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
