With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Georgia Mae Graves, who peacefully departed this life on January 26, 2025.

Georgia Mae Graves, age 89, passed away peacefully in her home in Norfolk, VA, on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Georgia was born on August 20, 1935, in Waugh, Alabama, to the late Joseph and Vivian Taylor.

Georgia was a woman of strong opinions, great taste, and a deep appreciation for beauty. She was never one to hold back her thoughts, but those who knew her best cherished her honesty and the love behind it. Her presence was unmistakable, and her family will forever remember her warmth, her wisdom, and the way she made any space feel like home.

Georgia is preceded in death by her three children: Shirley Harris, Benson Graves, and Arlice Magualey. Georgia leaves to cherish her memories her husband of 72 years, Chester Graves. Daughters Vivian Martin, Sharon Graves, and Zelma Graves. Sons Chester Graves Jr. Two sisters, Erline Purdie and Bessie Bryant, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
