George's obituary

George Victor Jackson Jr. passed away peacefully in his home on April 8, 2024 at the age of 89. He was born in New Orleans, LA on September 28, 1934 and was a long-time resident of St. Bernard Parish. Loving husband to June O. Jackson, for 67 wonderful years, where they created a lifetime of memories. George was the proud father to George Jackson III, the late June Tregle (Mike Tregle), Pamela Jackson, Steven Jackson, Judy Jackson (Mike Ballard), David Jackson (Pamela L Jackson), Penny Nunez (Wade Nunez), and the favorite, Randy Jackson; grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great-grandfather to many; brother to Eric Jackson. He is preceded in death by his parents, George V. Jackson Sr. and Ethel Kenndy Jackson, and brother, Larry Jackson.

George’s greatest joys included spending time with his family and friends around the kitchen table and drinking coffee. He was known as a hard worker in the commercial fisher, minnow farmer, and poultry farmer industries. He will be remembered not only for being a strong and great father and grandfather but for the stories that he told, which always had a crowd of laughter.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2805 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will begin at noon. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery. A reception will follow in the hall next to the Church.
