George's obituary

George Sparks Jr, 68, of Jonesboro, LA, passed away on August 15, 2022 at Jackson Parish Hospital in Jonesboro. He was cremated at Griffin Funeral Home in Monroe La and will have his ashes taken and scattered in Casper Wy per his last wishes.

George was born November 11, 1953 in Louisiana. At a young age he chose to join the Marines and served during the Vietnam War. He was injured during his service and was later honorably discharged. He traveled for a while, moving place to place, working odd jobs until moving to Baton Rouge La to raise his children.  He was a loving and devoted father. He worked long hard hours to provide for his family.  He recently retired and was enjoying his time at home raising his youngest son. He was very much loved by both his family and friends. He will dearly be missed by all those who knew him.

He is survived by his children, Sarah Susan, Tina and Joshua Van Waters, Paul Susan, David Susan, James Susan, Oriana Sparks, George Sparks III, and Ian Sparks and his grandchildren Lacey Paige Fields, Brittany Fields, Draven Van Waters, Kerstan Van Waters, Iris McPherson, Kenneth Ray Vaughn, Noah Geno, and Rainne-Ann Geno.

A father like you is rare, one that's so generous, smart and kind. A father like you is what everyone needs, full of smiles and laughter, always doing great deeds. Nothing can replace a father like you, but when you get to heaven, God will be lucky to have you too.
