Background
Dear Family and Friends,
As many of you know, our beloved father and husband recently passed away after bravely battling a catastrophic stroke. The stroke left him with an acquired language disorder called aphasia. Though many have never heard of this language disorder before, there are over 2 million people in the United States living with aphasia.
In lieu of flowers, our family would be deeply touched if you would consider donating to Voices of Hope for Aphasia (VOHA) in honor of our dad and husband. His youngest daughter, Brooke, is a speech-language pathologist and has worked with VOHA since 2015, never imagining her father would one day acquire aphasia.
VOHA helps people affected by aphasia live their lives connected with others so that they don’t feel so isolated. Imagine suddenly finding yourself in a country where you don’t know the language. You can see family and friends, restaurants, stores… all the regular activities of life. Your intelligence is still intact, but you don’t always understand what others are saying, can’t say what you’d like to say, and may have difficulty reading and/or writing. VOHA provides programs where people with aphasia can meet others and get back to doing the things they enjoy with communication support. Our dad was committed to donating to VOHA every year and we know it would make him very happy to know that although he didn’t get the chance to benefit from their services himself, others will.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will help VOHA continue their vital work in supporting individuals and families affected by aphasia.
To donate, click the link. Or, you may mail a check to the address below. Your generosity will be a lasting tribute to our dad's memory and the legacy of love and compassion he leaves behind. Your kindness and support during this difficult time means more to our family than words can express.
With love,
Susan, Danny, Tara and Brooke
