George Ernest Merritt, age 66, passed away on July 9, 2019 in Charleston, SC. Mr. Merritt, son of Donald and Margaret Merritt, grew up in Merritt Island, FL during the 1960s.
He moved to Atlanta where he worked as a store manager for Edkerd Drugs. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Nursing and worked as an RN in Charleston, SC. George Merritt devoted his life to tending to the sick and handicapped. He was also a volunteer who served food to the homeless. George Merritt was an avid surfer and world traveler.
Mr. Merritt is survived by his stepson, Juan, and former spouse, Maria. And by his sisters, Barbara Ludlow, Vanessa Adame, and Amanda Susan, and brothers Richard Herald and Stephen Paul.
