George's obituary

George J. McQuillen, Jr. (74), of Supply, North Carolina, passed away surrounded by his family on February 27, 2022 in Wilmington, North Carolina.

George was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts to George Sr. and Mary McQuillen on April 9, 1947. He went to school at Half Hollow Hills High School in Huntington NY, graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 1968 with a degree in Business and obtained a Masters in Business Administration from the Western New England College. He married Barbara Peltier on August 10, 2000 in Sudbury, Massachusetts.

George worked for the State of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health from (1969 - 2004). His most recent position was Business Manager. While working for the State of Massachusetts, he owned and operated The Hungry U restaurants in Amherst Massachusetts, from 1968-1982.

George was a three-sport high school athlete and was named all county in football. His passion was physical fitness. He was also an avid golfer.

George is preceded in death by his Mother, Mary McQuillen (nee Harrington), his Father George J. McQuillen Sr. and his Brother Rev. Paul G. McQuillen S.S.E.

George is survived by his loving wife, Barbara McQuillen (nee Peltier) of North Carolina, his dear son Brendan McQuillen (Brady Hatch) of Maine, his brother Kenneth McQuillen (Anne) of Illinois and his brother Mark McQuillen (Flora) of Massachusetts. He was a devoted grandfather to Clodagh and Everett and an adored uncle of Amy, Michael, Kevin, Katlyn, Mary, Casey and Patrick.

Memorials may be given to Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Center, 955 Mercy Ln., Bolivia, NC 28422.
