George's obituary

George Alan McDorman, 69, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on April 5, 2023 in his sleep.

Alan was born on June 6, 1953 to Mary and Jim McDorman in Dayton, Ohio. He spent his adolescent years in Columbus, Ohio before the family moved to Wisconsin when he was thirteen.

Shortly after high school, Alan successfully escaped the frigid air and moved to Florida where he happily put his snow-shoveling days behind him. After getting married in 1980, his first daughter, Melissa was born in 1982, followed by Amy in 1984 and Jennifer in 1989. You had never met such a proud and happy father of three girls!

Alan divorced in 1992, but his daughters remained his world. To list all the fun and exciting memories they built together over the years would make this the longest obituary in history.

After over twenty years of work, Alan retired from Cargill as a maintenance supervisor in the Port of Tampa and moved back to Lakeland, Florida where his daughters were born and raised. He used his retirement to proudly buy his home outright. If you close your eyes long enough, you can see Alan sitting on his porch with his daughters watching the grandkids climb the tree in his back yard right before the sun goes down. He had the best view from that porch.
