George's obituary
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of George Macpherson at the age of 78 on August 17, 2025.
George was born on January 12, 1947, in Glasgow, Scotland, to John and Sarah Macpherson. He went on to become a dedicated mechanical engineer, a career that reflected his sharp mind, curiosity, and ability to make impactful relationships. This career took him across the globe, with especially meaningful years spent in Russia.
Beyond his profession, George was known for his quick wit, his love for exotic sports cars, and talent for telling a good story. He found joy in spending time with his loved ones, watching Premier League football, and sharing his lifelong passion for classic rock music. Wherever he was, George was always a heart and the soul of the party, and he enjoyed life in all its beauty as long as he could.
George lived with Parkinson’s disease for many years and, in his later years, with dementia. He faced these challenges with quiet courage and dignity, surrounded by the constant care and love of his family until his last breath.
He is survived by his wife Olga; daughters Marina and Anya; and sons Scott, Robin and Simon. He is also survived by his siblings Donald and John. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Sarah Macpherson and sister Marie Scanlan.
The family will hold a private viewing, followed by a celebration of George’s life with friends and family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research in George’s memory.
George’s warmth, wisdom, and love will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
