George's obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. George Clarence Livesay Jr. He was born October 15, 1973, and passed away on July 17, 2025, unexpectedly. George’s life was a lively jigsaw of joy, laughter, and dedication to his loved ones and passions.

He leaves behind his loving mother, Cathy Cowley-Edwards, his StepFather, Michael Patt and his devoted siblings, Yvonne (Bonnie) Stevens, Bobby Cannon, Charlie Hinen, Cindy Clements Livesay, Crystal Hines and Mary Holton and his Godmother, Christy Wiley-West. His legacy continues in his children, Courtney Fleck, Mallory Fleck, Zoe Lindquist, Sidney Livesay, Emmett Livesay, and Christen Livesay and many other extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his father, George Livesay Sr., his grandparents, Harvey & Mildred Edwards, his aunt, Mary Edwards, and his uncle, Richard.

To know George was to know a man of simple but profound pleasures. He found comfort in a steaming plate of spaghetti and a glass of sweet tea, coffee, or beer. He loved the distinctive sounds of the '80s with Bryan Adams, The Outfield, ZZ Top, Guns N Roses playing in the background. A jovial evening for him was one spent watching CHIPS, MTV, or a game of Wheel of Fortune. His taste in movies spanned comedies to action-packed adventures, and his choice of sports was, without exception, The Florida Gators.

George was full of life, often seen playing childhood games like football, dodgeball, and hide n seek like he did with his sisters, as children. He was a fan of performances by The Blue Angels and enjoyed panning for gold, tinkering on cars, and spending time at family gatherings and around fires. A lover of the outdoors, he cherished any recreational park or hiking area and was committed to helping others whenever he could. His love for the color blue was consistent with his love for space and tranquility.

George was a man who understood the value of hard work and fitness. He relished working out and strengthening his resolve in both body and spirit. As he would often say when the going got tough, "Keep company with that fire. Remember who it belongs to. Because that steady flame isn’t just grief. It’s love in another form. And even in your coldest seasons, that love can still keep you."
