George's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Harrer III, a beloved father, husband, and grandfather. George was born on March 15, 1951, and passed away on April 5, 2025.
George is survived by his devoted wife, Kathryn Harrer, whom he married in 1973. He leaves behind two children, his daughter, Melissa Patel, and his son, Jeffery Harrer. He was a cherished father-in-law to Pankaj Patel. His love and spirit will live on through his grandchildren: Katrina Harrer, Christian Ferenc, Jaiden Patel, Carter Harrer, Krupa Patel, Krishna Patel, and Shivam Patel. George was preceded in death by his parents, Joan Harrer and George Harrer Jr.
George spent his later years in Palm Harbor, FL, having moved there in 2016. His life was enriched with simple pleasures. He loved all foods and had a particular fondness for milk. Crossword puzzles were his books of choice, he adored Reggae music, and he took delight in watching TV shows such as Married with Children and The Simpsons. An avid sports enthusiast, George’s loyalties lay with the Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. Solitaire and Candy Crush were games that brought him joy.
A man of many hobbies, George had a love for gardening. His favorite vacation spot was Clearwater Beach. A passionate advocate for animals, George actively supported the SPCA. His favorite color, fittingly, was blue—a color that symbolizes trust, loyalty, and wisdom.
George was a beacon of joy, known for his happiness, caring nature, love, patience, and positivity. His most profound teaching was the golden rule: "Do onto others as you would have done to you." His greatest accomplishments lay not in material success, but in the rich, familial life he led as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
George will be remembered for his honesty, humor, love for his family, and unwavering faith. No matter the challenges he faced—and there were many—George always wore a smile on his face, exhibiting a positivity that was infectious to those around him.
A memorial service will be held for George on May 1, 2025, at 1:00 AM at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family is raising funds for "Memorial Services". Donations can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of….
We invite you to join us in celebrating George's life, remembering him not for his loss but for the love and joy he brought into the world.
