George's obituary

George Robert Gonski, 62, of O’Fallon and formerly of Glen Ellyn, Illinois passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in O’Fallon. He was born January 21, 1962, in St. Paul, Minnesota, a son of the late George W. and Lee Gail (Supple)Gonski. He married Jacquelyn Lee “Jackie” (Ennis) Gonski on August 12, 2002, on the beach in Destin, Florida and she survives. 

He was a warehouse supervisor for GEODIS in Edwardsville and had previously worked as an investment financial advisor. George’s life was full of love and good times. He cherished his children, wife, family, bonus family and even liked his dogs and grand-dogs most of the time. He was a true grillmaster and loved his family and friends to enjoy his barbeque. He loved sports, was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, enjoyed his days of bicycling across the state of Iowa and always looked forward to holiday gatherings especially Thanksgiving and Christmas. Grande Gonski was known to be a bit stubborn and sarcastic but was always living his colorful life to the fullest, ready for a cocktail and was always the life of any party.

In addition to his beloved wife of 22 years, he is survived by four children, Vince Michael Gonski and partner, Jeff Mancari of San Francisco, California, Tyler Joseph Gonski of O’Fallon, Morgan LeeAnn Gonski of O’Fallon and Marin Helene Gonski of O’Fallon; brother and sister-in-law,Michael and Dawn Gonski of Maryville; sister, Gail Long of Grand Prairie, Texas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bob and Pat Ennis of O’Fallon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Scott and Jodi Ennis of Chesterfield, Missouri; sister-in-law, Michelle Orlando of O’Fallon; many nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends. 

A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held at a later date.
