Timmy's obituary

George Alexander (Tim) Edmonds born on December 15, 1937, in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia from the Lucas family and the McCatty family in Jamaica. Tim passed away at age 83, on March 26, 2021, early morning at the CHSLD in St. Henri, Montreal, peacefully sleeping and embraced by his wife Susan of 60 years. Though he battled Dementia and Parkinson’s for over thirteen years, the illness did not change his personality, he was always smiling, laughing, joking around, and singing. He took a part of us with him and we will always have a part of him with us.

Tim was a much loved compassionate and humble man with a contagious laugh and keen sense of humour. He was a devoted member of the Victoria Road United Baptist Church, where he was involved with the Senior Men's Choir and the Men's Brotherhood. He was a dedicated and much-loved employee of the mental health nursing staff at the Nova Scotia Hospital in Dartmouth, where he spent 20 plus years working on the Forensic Psychiatric Unit.

He touched numerous people’s lives - in his nursing career and with his musical pastimes. A lover of music, he played several instruments by ear, but his true passion was singing. He sang with the Nova Scotia Mass Choir and after moving back to Montreal, he also sang with the People's Gospel Choir and the Union United Church Men's Group.

Tim was involved in many levels of community service, including with the Dartmouth Natal Day Committee, as a volunteer firefighter, with the East Preston Lions Club, and through the countless handiwork and volunteering he would do and through the things he built in homes, the church, for neighbours and friends. He was quick to fix something for somebody somewhere, always helping, always laughing and constantly joking. Wherever he lived or whatever city he visited, he always seemed to know someone, even if they hadn't seen him in years and years. He remembered people, loved the attention and was often happy to accept payments for odd jobs with the gift of a home-cooked meal.

A child at heart, Tim would often take the day off work to get his daughters ready for Hallowe’en, or after big winter storms, he would make the most amazing snow sculptures in the yard. He took pride and care in his home and in everything he did.

He is survived by his wife Susan Edmonds: Daughters Gina - Ajax, Ontario, Pamela - Hamilton, Ontario and Dana (Jim) - Montreal, Quebec, Predeceased son Shawn, Grandchildren Sarah Clarke-Rowiniski (Jamie) - Fredericton New Brunswick, Gary Jr., Maya and Iyanna Levy - Ajax, Ontario, Emily Edmonds- Hamilton, Ontario and Matteo Edmonds-Tiano - Montreal, Quebec, Great Grandchildren Olivia, Isaiah and Rhys Clarke-Rowiniski - Fredericton New Brunswick, Isabelle Edmonds- Hamilton, Ontario. Surviving Siblings: Dennis (Arleen) Dean - Montreal, Quebec, Keith "Skipper" Dean (Penelope) - Montreal, Quebec, Marsha (Rahim) Ali - North Carolina, Tina Saunders - Halifax, Nova Scotia, Shelley Dixon - Montreal, Quebec. Special brother Robert Maxwell - Ottawa, Ontario, Special sister Terri (George) Gray, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia,

Thank you to everyone for their kind words of support, and for God’s grace in sending your angels to remind us of our blessings. Tim will be missed dearly. Due to COVID-19 gathering restrictions, there will be no service at this time; however, a memorial service will be held at a later date in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Donations in his memory may be made to Victoria Road United Baptist Church in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
