He was a GUIDING LIGHT when I needed help, he gave me courage to face the future.
George met and married my Aunt Mary. Over the next decades they shared a sweet marriage. Uncle George taught me how to make delicious margaritas on one of their visits to the Phoenix area. Whenever we make margaritas, we think of him! He was always kind and interested in us and our family whenever we saw them.
Love you, Aunt Mary. I'm so sad for your loss. Love, Nannette

I’m so grateful Papa that you were always there for me. You treated me as your grandson even though you didn’t have to. I would have never known differently. Thank you for your example of unconditional kindness and servant leadership.

Sidney learned to walk at Nana and Papa George’s house. She loved to build sand castles, play with gnomes, go to the zoo, and listen as Papa George recited his many poems. Visiting Nana and Papa George was a highlight in all of our Southern California trips. The kids could always count on Papa George to share some ice cream from his freezer (always well stocked) any time they asked and even when they didn’t.

One of our trips going to visit Nana and Papa at their home in Coronado with the children. Even living on the opposite side of the world Nana and Papa always made an incredible effort to make special memories with their great-grandchildren. The kids really valued this relationship. ❤️

Nana and Papa on the dancefloor at our wedding!
I am grateful to have so many wonderful memories with Papa. On my wedding day I will never forget walking down the aisle amidst a sea of loves ones, feeling awash with the most powerful love and support, and right next to my beaming husband was Papa - elegant in his white robes, smile from ear to ear and tears in his eyes as he welcomed us into this exciting new chapter of our lives. Through the ceremony, Papa’s poetic and impeccably crafted words wafted through the air, sometimes I can still hear it in my memories. I also have such a vivid memory of spinning and dipping with Papa on the dance floor - his movements purposeful and strong but whimsical as if he had transported himself back in time.

I will forever hold that day as one of my most incredible life experiences and will always cherish the role he played on such a special occasion.
