What can I say about George Michael? During my (our, actually - he's six years old than me) childhood, he was the most important relative I had, quite an influence on my early years. Good natured enough that when I visited Lakewood, he'd take me with him with whatever girl he was seeing at the time (if that's not a 17-18 year old saint, please tell me what is), keeping Aunt Mary very happy. He was around when I needed to talk to him, fortunately for him my problems were nowhere near what they developed into as I got older. After he married and started his own family, we definitely drifted apart, and if there's any sorrow, it's that due to the vagaries of life and geography, we never physically saw each other again after my sister's wedding in 1984. Thank good for Facebook, at least we were able to get back in touch.
And when his son Tony (as we called him back then) wanted to talk, of course I was happy to. Payback is a good feeling.
