Gentry Sawyer, 66, of Longview, TX, passed away on May 16, 2025, after a brief illness.

Gentry was born on November 13, 1958, to Mildred Johnson and Edward Sawyer Sr in Natchitoches Louisiana. After graduating from Natchitoches Central High School in 1977 he went on to work with Skeeter Boats for 30 years. 

Gentry was a force of nature and loved by close friends and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his daughters Keisha and Monica.

Gentry was preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Edward, sisters Gaylon Sawyer and Bernadine (Bonnie) Baines, and brothers Edward Sawyer Jr, Robert Sawyer, Ruben Sawyer, and Jerry Sawyer. He is survived by brother Joseph Sawyer and daughters Nakeisha and Monica Sawyer. 

The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Grand Ecore Road Church of Christ. There will be a celebration of life at 12 PM on May 31, 2025, at Grand Ecore Road Church of Christ in Natchitoches Louisiana.
