Gennaro's obituary
Gennaro James lovino, "G", aged 75, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in La Quinta, California. Born on November 10, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to James and Valentina lovino, G was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. G honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972, completing two tours of duty in Vietnam. After his military service, he built a successful career as a government contractor, estimator, and pricing analyst, working with esteemed companies such as Singer Librascope, Lockheed Martin, and Tele-
dyne. In 2018, upon retirement, G and his wife Nancy relocated from North Hollywood, Ca., to La Quinta, Ca.,.
A devoted family man, G cherished time spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Nancy; his sons, Anthony and Dane; his daughter-in-law, Jessica; his granddaughter, Carmen Rae; and his four sisters, and their spouses - Marie and John Mardesich, Nina and Mick Van Nos-trand, Elena and Michael De Julio, and Candy and Doug Stoutenborough.
G's family was his world, and he embraced his role as a homebody, finding joy in the simple pleasures of life. G had a passion for the unexplained, immersing himself in stories about aliens, Sasquatch, and ghosts. A voracious reader, he sought out books, YouTube videos, and Netflix documentaries to satisfy his curiosity. He was a voracious reader, who had a talent for writing, and was also a crossword puzzle whiz - the harder the better for him and he did them in ink. Gennaro also loved the saxophone, which he played while being a part of a few different bands back in the day.
An avid fan of the Dodgers and Lakers, G's love for the teams was so intense that he occasionally had to turn off the games when the suspense became overwhelming. He loved attending Dodger games at Dodger Stadium with his family.
His guilty pleasure was his longtime admiration for musician Frank Zappa. Mesmerized by Zappa's songwriting and complex compositions, G remained a dedicated fan throughout his adult life. He also had an enduring affection for both the book and the movie - "The Godfather," watching it countless times and eventually switching to Italian subtitles to keep the experience fresh. G found a line to quote for nearly every situation in life in The Godfather, and he quoted them often.
G's warmth, wit, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of curiosity, loyalty, and devotion serves as an inspiration to those he leaves behind
