Genevieve's obituary
Genny passed away in her sleep from complications of Type 1 diabetes in Houston, Texas.
Genevieve was born on October 8, 2002 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. She moved to Florida at the age of two and was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at three years old.
Diabetes drastically affected her life but every summer for the last ten years she attended Florida’s Diabetes Camp, Gainesville Florida. Genevieve loved this camp. It was the highlight of her year and she was deeply impacted by the help, support, education and comaraderie.
She attended Jessie P. Miller Elementary, Family Life Community School and would have been entering her senior year at Manatee High School. She worked as a counselor in training for the past two years at Dream Oaks Camp and had a passion for special needs kids. She also worked briefly as a hostess at the Metro Diner in Bradenton. Her dream was to become a special-needs pediatric nurse. She attended many youth groups and was very social, always developing new friendships. She even volunteered at a Nursing Home visiting the elderly for a season. She touched people and led an elderly man to Christ during a Christmas time visit. She was involved in Revive Florida and shared her adoption story and faith openly. She never knew a stranger and would give the shirt off of her back for anyone in need. Her compassionate, loving heart will always be remembered, cherished and dearly missed.
She was wonderful with children and babies, and loved to bowl, hang out at the beach, bake, and spend time with her many friends. She was known for her caring nature, her joking, and her love of fun and adventure.
There will be a COVID friendly drive-thru service on Friday, July 10th from 7pm-9pm at Restoration Fellowship Church, 5614 Richardson Rd, Sarasota, FL 34232 for all who would like to come. We plan on live streaming the family service on both Facebook and Instagram on Saturday July 11th at 10am and will share a link, post-service, for those who want to watch at a later time. Due to COVID restrictions there will not be a viewing or a public after- service gathering.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genevieve’s favorite place, Florida’s diabetes camp, Gainesville Florida,

1Thessalonians 4:13-14
“Beloved brothers and sisters, we want you to be quite certain about the truth concerning those who have passed away, so that you won’t be overwhelmed with grief like many others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, we also believe that God will bring with Jesus those who died while believing in Him.”
