Gem Spencer, a warm, bubbly, and tenacious woman - ever radiant with her perpetual smile - passed away peacefully on the 24th of December, 2025. Born on the 18th of March in 1939, Gem's life was a testament to resilience, perseverance, and the power of positivity.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Chris and John Spencer, and her daughter, Michelle Spencer, who carry on her vibrant spirit. 9 Grand children: Christopher,  Justin,  Braylen, Darius, Ellnia, Fletcher, Gem (little), Heaven and Noah. Gem leaves behind a beautiful legacy of kindness, an unquenchable zest for life, and a steadfast tenacity that continues to inspire her family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

She was born in St. Elizabeth Jamaica and moved to Kingston (town) in seach for a better life. And eventually came to Canada in the middle of winter and it was her first time that she saw snow.

Gem's life was distinguished by hard work and determination. She held multiple jobs for many decades, extending her relentless enthusiasm and effort into every endeavour she undertook. Her greatest joy, however, came from her family. Gem was a nurturing matriarch who took immense pride in her nine grandchildren, each of whom will carry the values and lessons she imparted with them.

A true embodiment of resilience, Gem taught those around her the importance of perseverance. Even in the face of adversity, she exhibited a remarkable ability to keep moving forward, always with her signature smile and unwavering positivity. These qualities have left an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends and are central to the legacy she leaves behind.

She has definatly had a green thumb. One commented "you throw seeds and it will grow". She loved making pottery and collected rock/stone.

Words cannot express the profound sense of loss felt by those who loved Gem. Her spirit, however, continues to guide and influence those she left behind. She will be deeply missed, even as her legacy of love and tenacity carries on.

A Celebration of Life for Gem will be held on the 15th of February, 2026, at 10:00 AM, at 15 Grierson Rd. As we gather to honour Gem's memory, we also celebrate the joy, warmth, and strength she brought into our lives.
