Gayle's obituary
We mournfully announce the passing of Gayle "GayleMac" McCullough, 65, of Manteca California. Gayle passed away on March 7th, 2022 after struggling with cardio respiratory disease and osteoarthritis.
Gayle, born to Milna and Charles MCCullough, on March 14th, 1956 in Merced and she grew up in Pleasanton California. She most recently and for many years lived in Manteca, California. Gayle attended Amador High School in Pleasanton California where she formed the first girls softball team. She loved and played softball, volleyball and basketball in high school and later coached JV girls basketball at Foothill High while attending college at Cal State Hayward. She continued to play and coach on many women’s softball teams, with many remarkable season wins! Gayle’s biggest passion in life was music. Formally trained in classical piano and during her school years on the clarinet, Gayle had the remarkable ability to pick up most any instrument and play it. She wrote music for guitar and piano and recorded in a studio she designed and built. Gayle joined in on many band jam gigs and often hosted music trivia for fun. She was very proud to be a part of the Manteca music community. When she wasn’t making music she was either playing softball, drawing, designing or fixing something needing repair or watching sports. She enjoyed all sports, but her favorite was Giants baseball and Buster Posey! She knew all the facts and stats for all sorts of professional players. Services are being planned and we will update the memorial website when we have more information.
