Gary James Uhl, 84 of Prescott, Michigan, passed away on May 31, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on July 6, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan to Carl and Dorothy (Gayari) Uhl. He married Marcella Ann Ryczko in 1978 and the couple moved to Prescott in 1979.

Gary worked as a carpenter throughout his life and was known for his exceptional skills. He was a member of Good News Ministries Lutheran Church in Whittemore. He enjoyed nature, animals, gardening, tinkering with things in his pole barn, and watching the History Channel. He also cherished his childhood memories of Detroit and visiting his maternal grandparents’ farm in Owendale.

Gary is survived by his loving children: Sandra Uhl of Conroe, TX., Tara (Keith) Lanterman of Taylor, Melissa (Rodney Gentner) Uhl of Caro, Jessica (Butch Shimmons) Uhl of Whittemore, Amanda (Doug Lynch) Uhl of Turner, and Kayla Uhl (Brad) of Prescott. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Robert Uhl, Roy Lloyd, Chloe Lanterman, Chelsea Lanterman, Daniel Shimmons, and Tyler Lynch; and six great-grandchildren.

Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marcella, his parents, his infant brother Gerald, and his son James. Per Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a memorial planned for a later date.
