Gary's obituary
Baker, Gary S. of Sarasota, FL (formerly of Wilmington, MA)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Gary Baker, who departed from this world peacefully on Monday October 30, 2023 with his sister Joanne, niece Wendi and longtime girlfriend Maggie by his side after a bravely fought battle against cancer.
Gary was born on February 21, 1953 at Winchester Hospital and grew up and graduated from high school in Wilmington, MA. He then went on to become a very skilled Carpenter and worked with his Dad in his Construction business. Together they built a summer home for the family in Cornish, ME in 1967 which is still utilized by family.
He touched the lives of so many with his genuine kindness and extremely witty personality. He found so much joy in being in Cornish with friends and family whenever possible and loved more than anything to fish and watch the birds. He also loved Country dancing and became to be so good at it. He adored his family and loved being with them anytime that he could.
Gary will be so deeply missed by those who survive him, including his sister Joanne Callahan (Baker) of Ashland, MA, his niece Wendi DeRienzo (Tibbetts) of Ashland, MA, his nephew David Tibbetts of Phoenix, AZ, great nephew DJ DeRienzo of Ashland, MA, great nephew Campbell Tibbetts of Phoenix, AZ, great niece Kayla Tibbetts of Phoenix, AZ, great niece Gianna DeRienzo of Ashland, MA, and longtime girlfriend Margaret (Maggie) D’Errico of Sarasota, FL. Maggie took such great care of Gary throughout his 2 year battle with this horrible disease.
He was preceded in death by his father Joseph J. Baker and mother Anne E. Baker.
There are no arrangements at this time but the family will be doing some type of Celebration of Life at a later date to be announced.
