Gary's obituary
Gary R. Shaw, a visionary architect and resident of the Austin area, recently passed away at the age of 77. Born to Jack and Kathryn Shaw in Beaumont, TX, Gary found his passion for design early on. He met his beloved wife, Jane, during his studies at the University of Houston. As the proud father of two daughters, Kristen and Melissa, Gary's dedication to family was evident in every aspect of his life. He loved spending time with his four grandchildren, always quick to play games and have fun. The annual trip to Galveston to celebrate Thanksgiving with family was one of his greatest joys. He enjoyed fishing with his buddies in the Gulf of Mexico, mission trips to Alaska, and touring the wine country of California.
Through his firm, GS Architects, Gary made significant contributions to the development and the expansion of Austin and surrounding cities. His creativity and commitment to excellence left an enduring mark on the architectural landscape.
Gary is survived by his wife (Jane Shaw), two daughters and son-in-laws (Kristen & Dennis and Melissa & Jared), four grandchildren (Jayden, Calvin, Dawson, and Adeline), sister (Beth Giblin), brother (Michael Shaw) and an abundance of family and friends. We will miss Gary more than words can say.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Downing and colleagues at Texas Oncology, of Georgetown. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Tammy and the staff at Altus Hospice of Austin.
