Gary's obituary
GARY FRANCIS LUKE
Gary Francis Luke passed away in Florida during Hurricane Ian. Gary was born May 11, 1950 to Beverly (Angotti) Luke and Francis Arthur Luke in Westbrook Maine. He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1968 and graduated from The University of Southern Maine with a degree in criminal justice. He had a long career working for various industrial companies as a salesman.
Gary leaves behind his wife, Candice (Fernald) Luke, and two daughters, Carrie Ann Luke of Falmouth and Tracy Luke of Bangor, as well as grandchildren Brooklyn Kirkland and Chase Bearce.
Gary will be missed by his siblings, Katherine Luke, Dana Luke and Diana Jensen. He will be remembered especially for his wonderful sense of humor — watching Mystery Science Theater 3000 with family and going to dinner and catching the latest movies.
Gary was an avid reader and movie aficionado. His wonderful, quirky sense of humor will be greatly missed. He entertained friends and family with his wild imagination and stories. Spending vacation time with Gary involved playing cards, cooking together and playing silly pranks on one another. Many card games were played while vacationing together in Millinocket, Maine and on Nason’s Beach, Sebago Maine. A big Jacques Cousteau fan, Gary often snorkeled Sebago Lake as a young man looking for the biggest fish — and sometimes pulling a friend’s or sibling’s leg from underwater, causing some intense screams!
He retired in 2012 and moved to North Fort Myers, Florida where he enjoyed his boat named “Dream Weaver”. Gary also enjoyed shooting at the range with friends and sampling all restaurants Florida had to offer.
Many trips were taken to the Caribbean with close friends. Gary had a sense of adventure and curiosity which made everything more fun. He also was an accomplished cook.
Gary Luke, father, grandfather, brother, and friend will be very much missed by family and friends, but we will cherish the memories made with him.
