We are so very sorry for your loss Kim....All you are going through and proving to be a warrior....Your strength and belief in Jesus and God and your friends and family will get you through....You broke my heart reading your last moments with Gary in the hospital....When I lost my dad a year and a half ago you never forget having to walk out of that room without them, or the thankfulness that you could be there beside them all at the same time....I wish you all Gods strength and will pray for you...Love Alyssa Slaterโค
The last time I spent with Gary was by his bedside saying my final farewells. The nurses had disconnected everything and his body was slowly shutting down. I had prayed for a miracle but I had also told God that I did not want him to be in pain and suffer. I can't verbally speak so I used my phone text to talk app and told Gary that I loved him and that it was okay to go, I knew his body was failing and that I wanted him to be at peace with Jesus.

I was already crying but when the nurse said he had passed I broke down. I did not want to say goodbye to my wonderful loving funny husband!!! I sat next to him for another hour because I did not want to leave, I knew once I left that I would not get to see him again except in pictures.

I miss him so deeply, he was my heart, my laughter, my rock....he was always there for me and I tried so hard to be there for him and save him.

Iโ€™m really sorry for your loss! Gary was a great guy. I had the opportunity to work under him and we had many adventures together for work, so I got to know quite a bit about him. I know he was passionate to help others and he loved the mountains. Gary had a lot of hopes and dreams and I think it is great that he did what he can to pursue them. I know he worked so hard to earn his masters Degree and he was very proud of his accomplishments, as he should be. I also know his love for his family and his dogs. He didnโ€™t do things small, he always cooked the Thanksgiving turkey for our DBT group and he loved to go all out for Christmas in his office. It was a pleasure working under him. He definitely is missed. I am Continuing to pray for the family.

This past November we decided to put up our outdoor Christmas decorations early. 2020 had been a crappy year and the past few months since my diagnosis and surgery had been trying so we thought some Christmas cheer early would be nice.
Anyone who has lived in the Tri Cities area knows that we can get some nasty wind around here, anytime of the year. Some of our outdoor decorations have have gotten a beat beaten up over the years from said wind so we were making sure everything was nailed down well.
Michael and Jacob had come over to help string lights in the tree and put up decorations. We got to our angel that lights up , she already leans to the side because of the way she is designed, but this year was even worse for getting her to stand up. Gary said he had an idea and into the garage he went. He came back out with these fishing pole holders that we had designed years ago out of old pieces of rebar, pipe and duct tape. They are ugly but work great if you are fishing along the Columbia and on a bunch of big rocks.
He planted them in the ground, added some zip ties and voila....the angel was standing up and would not go anywhere. He said "Yep, just red necked an angel!" and we all laughed and I said "Wow, that sounds like a bad country song!" and Michael said " Or a really good title for a country song" and we all busted up laughing.
Gary had a great sense of humor and could always make me laugh, even when I didn't want to. It is one of the things I loved the most about him. We could crack each other up over the most trivial things and I have so many memories of joking and laughing with him that I treasure.

He taught me how to ride a motorcycle on his bike. โค He was so good to Kim and her kids.
My heart goes out to you and your family. May his memory bring you comfort. He was a great man for you Kim. I know how much you loved him, as it showed in your face when you spoke of him.
We are so incredibly sorry for your loss. Your family does not deserve the hardships you have endured. Please reach out if you need anything at all. You are forever in our prayer. Love you Kimbo.
My condolences to the entire family. May you find comfort and peace. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™
