Gary our nights in the ER will surely never feel the same… hearing you say what’s up beautiful with your smile & sass would make any rough day better! Always there for us all, and with our little laughter and Aires ways we just knew and understood each-other ♈️ I pray for peace & comfort for your family… Let your smile and love always grace them when least expected… rest easy Garebear 🤍

There was no opportunity that Gary missed to crack a joke & make everyone within earshot laugh; no circumstance where he didnt speak up and defend what was right; no situation that Gary didn't know how to handle with the utmost professionalism; no dynamic that he couldn't help mellow out the vibe. Any opportunity he got, he'd proudly bring up his husband and their antics together. He was a beacon of positivity and such a great representative of himself, his profession, and his community. He'd brag about how he 'accidentally' brought whiskey overseas and that he's technically a smuggler now. He'd help calm nervous patients down by just talking to them like people. Gary is loved for the person that he was...he was genuine and kind and good. He was our Garebear and he was our friend.

Nick, deepest condolences to you and Gary's loved ones. May the memories of his smile & laughter bring you light.

I admired him deeply — for his kindness, warmth, and gentle presence. His hugs were my favorite, and just being near him made everything feel a little lighter. I’m so grateful our paths crossed. My heart goes out to his husband and family — may they find comfort in the love he shared with all of us. 🙏🏼❤️
I'm in disbelief and heartbroken at your passing. You were respectful, hard-working, and full of life. Your love and hugs were what one needed in the midst of some of the roughest shifts in 5 south. I will forever cherish you. ❤️❤️

Gary , you have touched so many lives and imprinted your mark on the world with your caring heart . We will all cherish the memories we made in the ER.

Sending prayers 💗

Gary, you always knew how to make a bad night better with your infectious smile. Nights in the ER will never be the same without you. You were always there for everyone, patients, friends, and coworkers alike. I will never forget the kindness you showed me and the laughs we shared. I miss you Garebear.
Gary was truly an amazing and beautiful soul. He was a light that came through the ED every night and always there for his patients and his ED family.  We all love you much and we all miss you Garebear!
Gary was an incredible nurse and an even better friend. To know him was to love him & he’ll forever be missed. After graduating nursing school, his goal was to “save some lives and change the world”, and he did just that. My sincere condolences to Nick & family. What an amazing human we had the pleasure of knowing.

Gary, you were such an inspiration. Such a bright light in the world. The short time working with you was a pleasure. I’ll always hear you say “ what’s up pretty girl”. May you rest in eternal peace. You will be missed.
You will be so missed. You were a brilliant nurse and it was easy to see. I was so excited for you when you said you were going to the ER and precepting you on SICU was always the best time. Your legacy will live on in all the lives you’ve touched.. the world would be a better place if there were more people like you!

Gary, you are SO loved and I will forever be proud of the man you have become. I watched you go through nursing school as a NA on 5 South, become an ED RN to which you kept telling me to join you and I was too chicken to join the chaos (until 1 random talk with you my friend to finally convince me), to being voted as 1199 Novice Nurse of the Year (totally awesome!!!), getting your MSN, and becoming an instructor with plans to continue growing your career. My heart broke when I heard of your passing, it doesn’t feel real.. I will always remember your bright smile, your warm hugs, your kind demeanor, your sassy jokes, your keen intellect and just everything about you. You will forever live in my heart, I am so so sorry Nick and family, I send my sincerest condolences. Gary is truly an amazing human being.
Gary was an amazing nurse with the perfect balance of sass and empathy to always advocate for his patients when needed. He was so passionate about his profession and fell in love with teaching. I will miss his infectious smile and uplifting personality. The ER will not be the same without him. Sending my condolences to everyone who knew and loved him and praying for peace and healing for his family and friends during this incredibly difficult time. Rest in peace Gary 🤍
I am totally heartbroken. I worked with Gary at the hospital... I loved working with him.He was always helpful to me. So smart and a great registered nurse. May you rest in peace, my love to Nicholas and your family.
Gary was one of many awesome nurses I have the privilege of bringing patients to. He was always motivated and easy to work with. I’ll never forget when he called me Gaston when I suggested “let’s just lift the patient” (because no one lifts like Gaston), and we talked about mustaches. That kind of personal connection with everyone was what made him a superb human and an amazing nurse. I will miss him.
