Gary's obituary

Gary Brian Golden, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2025, at the age of 64 in Dallas, Texas.

Gary was known for his generous spirit, hospitality, charm, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. Through Gary’s long cancer journey, he was a tough fighter and supporter of others in the same community.

Gary was born on May 29, 1961, in Dallas and was the third child of Bobby Jim Golden and Carol Diane Stogner Crowley. Gary loved growing up riding dirt bikes, fishing, and spending time at his family’s lake house.

Gary graduated from Lake Highlands High School in 1979. Gary began his career at Tom Thumb during high school, rising from a “Sacker” to managing one of the largest produce departments in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Soon after, he began building his own company, Pacific Island Pools. Gary's pool business was one of his biggest passions, and he built a large community of loyal customers over 38 years.

Gary met his wife, Carissa, in 1985. They married in 1987 and together had two daughters, Chandler and Conor. Gary was a devoted "girl dad" and spent many hours with them on Indian Princess camping trips, daddy daughter dances, and debutante balls. Three of his proudest moments were walking each daughter down the aisle to marry their husbands, whom he also loved dearly, and the birth of his first granddaughter, Emily.

Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Carol, father, Bob, stepfather James (Jim), and youngest sister Ginger.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Carissa; his eldest daughter, Chandler and her husband, Matt Waite, and granddaughter Emily; and his youngest daughter Conor and her husband Trey Vinzant, and soon-to-arrive granddaughter, Vivienne. He is also lovingly remembered by his stepmother, Marla Golden; his mother-in-law, Nancy Bryant-Welch; his siblings, Robert Golden, Laurie Dees, Michael Mabry, Meredith Webber, Jim Crowley, Cindy Keiser, John Crowley, and Noelle Crowley; his siblings-in-law, Kerri O'Connor, Nathan Bryant, and Frances Gibson; as well as his beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Gary's other passions included making many barbeque meals on his smoker and grills, hosting numerous events at the "Golden Premium Bar & Resort,” all Dallas sports, rock and country music - especially by his favorites Rush, Tom Petty, and Merle Haggard, and spending time by the ocean and lake. Most of all, he treasured his family and spent as much time as possible with them. Gary had a vibrant, welcoming spirit and never met a stranger.

Gary’s legacy of love and generosity will live on in all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, from 1-4pm at Canyon Creek Country Club, 625 West Lookout Drive, Richardson, Texas, 75080.
