I can hardly believe it's been a year already that Gary has been gone...gone from this life perhaps, but not from our hearts. I was so fortunate to see him shortly before his passing, and that visit, just by happenstance. Gary smiled when he saw me but the first word out of his mouth were..."Where's Jill?" So much the Gary we all knew and loved, especially my wife and his dear friend, Jill! Rest in peace and keep the shiny side up, Gary. We hope to cross paths again in the future.

If it wasn't for Gary I wouldn't have been a state trooper for 20 years.  When I was in 11th grade he took me on a ride along,(he was a trooper in my home town) I did a few actually.  But on this first one I wanted to be good soldier, tough etc.  So we are driving along and I have my hand out the window, with hand on top of the opening when he closed the window.  I was in some serious pain but for some reason I felt like an idiot so tried to remain calm and said "Gary, can you open the window?"  "Sure" he says "are you hot?"  The pain now is intense no longer able to stand it "No um, MY FINGERS ARE BEING CRUSHED!"  My fingers turned out ok but after he opened the window he asked if they were ok and I said yes and then he burst in to laughter "Oh Scott, HAHAHAHA!" I never saw him laugh so hard.  A good memory and he will be missed.
