Gary's obituary

Gary Ray Dennis, age 73 years, passed away on June 5, 2025 after battling an aggressive form of lung cancer and subsequent heart failure. 

Gary was born March 7, 1952 in Midland, Texas. 

He is survived by his three loving daughters: Becky Holt (m. Brandon), Kelly Toepperwein (m. Evan), Christie Appleby (m. Drew) and the mother of his children Margie Rose Dennis.

His adoring grandchildren: Brooke Holt, Blake Holt, Colten Appleby, Greysen Appleby, and Adalyn Toepperwein. 

His mother Darnel McMillan Dennis and his brother Jimmy Dennis (Pat). 

His aunts Betty Dennis Jones and Doris McMillan Brigman.

His uncles Bill McMillan and John McMillan (Marion).

His wife Brenda Dennis, stepsons Jim and Brian and stepgrandchild Keegan.

He is preceded in death by his father Vernon Ray Dennis and his infant sister Juanelle Dennis.

Gary loved spending time with his family. He was a loving, caring and compassionate father and grandfather. He never hesitated to drop what he was doing to help his family when they needed him. He enjoyed camping, boating, waterskiing, and going to the beach. Some of his favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting, grilling, watching football and playing his guitar. 

Gary was always very ambitious and never hesitated to try new adventures. He began his adult life working in Anchorage, Alaska as a firefighter with the Bureau of Land Management. He eventually moved his family to Overland Park, Kansas where he worked his way up to general manager of several convenient stores. From there he moved his family to Midland, Texas where he became a landman in the oil business for many years. He eventually made his mark in the coffee and vending industry in San Antonio, Texas. The last years of his life he was Business Operations Manager for corporate at McCliffs coffee and vending company based in Austin, Texas.

Gary made such a positive impact in many lives. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
