Gary Cornwell

Gary departed this life on April 27, 2025, in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Born December 29, 1956, in Pontiac, Michigan, he was the only son of Joyce and Leroy.

Gary lived a fascinating life. He proudly rode his bicycle as his main transportation throughout his life. Once, he even pedaled his way from Florida to Michigan. He enjoyed reading and watching movies, some many times over again. He had an extensive collection of DVD’s. Jack of all trades, he worked professionally in HVAC and electrical and often helped out friends on weekends with whatever project was in progress. Gary could also be seen running sound or lights for rock bands, most often with his cousins. Gary grew up with many cousins, who’s love & friendship kept them close from early years of youthful hijinks through elder years of achy backs and grey hair.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Joyce (Yarbrough) Ingland, and his father, Carroll Leroy Cornwell. He leaves behind many family members and friends who will remember him with affection and respect.

The family was unable to honor Joyce with a memorial at her passing in 2021. It was Gary's wish to have Joyce's ashes laid rest in a cemetery. We will fulfill his request later this summer when Gary and Joyce will be interred side by side at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.

A Memorial Gathering will be held for Gary on July 20, 2025, from 01:00 PM to 03:00 PM at Overtyme Grill 4724 Dixie Hwy.
