Gary's obituary

Gary A. Carolfi, 72, (The Big “C”) of Homosassa, Florida peacefully passed away at his home on January 6, 2024.

Gary was born to Cora (Kuse) and Albert Carolfi on December 16, 1951, and attended Stratford Schools. He married the love of his life, Peggy Fuehrer, and had two daughters, Brenda and Tammy. He loved having Peggy by his side wherever he went and was excited to take her on all the adventures throughout the years.

Gary proudly served in the National Guard after high school and later was deployed to Germany for 18 months.

Gary tried many things in his life, from leasing Peg and Gary’s Sherriland Ballroom where they met so many great people to owning G and P Trucking. He was President of Whitetails Unlimited for 9 years and worked at Earth Inc. for many years.

Gary made friends wherever he went and lived life to the fullest. He loved all the years of hunting with his friends at the Hunting Cabin on their land.

In 2015, Gary and Peggy started snow birding in Florida and shortly after moved there where he loved living. He enjoyed hanging out with his kids and grandkids, fishing, hunting, and riding his Harley.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Cora and Albert Carolfi, siblings Richard Carolfi and Judy Smieja. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; children Brenda Carolfi (Mike Wallace) of Praire du Chein, and Tammy Holberg (Isaac) of Wisconsin Rapids, grandchildren, Griffin, Sawyer, Rylee, Sydney, and Bentley; siblings Sandra Sorensen (Monte) and Brian Carolfi, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and so many friends.

Gary will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his friendly personality, and willingness to help his friends and neighbors in need.

A celebration of life will take place on January 19, from noon-3pm at the Crystal River Eagles in Homosassa with a service and military honors starting at 1pm. A service in Wisconsin will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please donate to the Gary Carolfi Memorial Fund to plant fruit trees in Florida in Gary’s name.
