GARY's obituary

It is with profound sadness and much love that we mourn the

passing of Gary Andrew Chambers Sr. on July 15, 2024, in

Huffman, Texas at the age of 74 years. Born on January 18,

1950, in Forest City, Arkansas, Gary lived 74 rich years

cherishing his country, raising strong children, treasuring his

grandchildren, and laughing and loving with family and friends.

Gary was a proud soldier and patriot, serving in the U.S. Army

during Vietnam. He was also a strong union member defending

employee rights during his 33 years working at the American

National Can Plant. Hating being idle, his retirement only lasted 3

years before he was back at work for Polar Service Center for

another 17 years. He is remembered as having the mind of a

patriot, the soul of an Indian, and the swag of an Italian mobster.

Gary Chambers lived large. A Texan and true southerner, he will

be remembered by all for his humor, courage, natural

mischievousness, daring, and legendary sense of adventure.

Gary simply loved life. Halloween parties at the Chambers were

infamous and unforgettable, with or without the tequila. Gary was

an exceptional mechanic and both a motorcycle and muscle car

enthusiast. He rode his Honda Valkyrie to Sturges and was a

proud member of the “Iron Butt Society.” He enjoyed fishing and

boating, teaching all his kids and his grandkids to fish as well.

Gary walked through life with equal ease and self-assurance,

finding lifelong friends in every step. He never met a stranger and

was generous with his kindness and affection, always quick to

extend a hand. He was literally a human magnet; one of those

rare men so comfortable in his own skin that his very presence

made everyone around him comfortable too. A natural leader,

Gary was the Dr. Phil of his neighborhood and workplace.

As a husband and a father, Gary was a strong provider __

supportive, hardworking, and both endlessly positive and non-

judgmental. He was the glue that bound his immediate and

extended family together. Gary’s love for his family was deep and

unquestionable, but it was his love for his wife, Cindy, which truly

defined him. Their marriage was strong and steady, while openly

joyful and tender. There was simply nothing he wouldn’t do for

her. For Gary, Cindy was always the prettiest girl in the room.

Gary and Cindy traveled the country together, raised a family,

built a deep and eclectic circle of friends, laughed, loved, and

rode for 34 rich years.

Life will be less vivid without Gary. He will be deeply missed, but

right before Gary passed, he told his wife that he didn’t have a

single regret. Hell of a way to go.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Chambers;

stepfather, Warren Bynum; mother, Agnes Bynum; and brother,

Denny Chambers. Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 34

years, Cindy; brother, Curtis Bynum; sons, Gary Chambers Jr.

and his wife Stephanie, and Dwight Hobs II and his wife Tonya;

daughters, Kimberly Fielding, and Stephanie Durham and her

fiancé Jeremy Jewell; seven grandchildren, Gary III, Emma, Tyler,

Brendan II, Mia, Garrett, and Aspen; ex sons-in-law, Brendan Sr.

and Larry; nieces and nephews, Sarah, Aaron, Hannah, and

Chance; as well as many treasured cousins, in-laws, and dear

friends; and not to forget his cherished tuxedo kitty, Sylvester.

Gary will be laid to rest in a graveside ceremony in the Honor

Garden at Sterling White Cemetery on Saturday, July 27 th at 11

am located at 11011 Crosby Lynchburg Road in Highlands,

Texas. The family will receive friends at a potluck lunch and a

Celebration of Life following the service from noon to 4 pm at the

American Legion Hall located at 14890 FM 2100 in Crosby,

Texas.

Saturday, July 27 th from 9 am until 11 am. The family florist of

choice, who is coordinating flower delivery that morning, is Tonja

at VineandBranchesGodley.com or 817-734-4607 __ or in lieu of

take 10 democrats to the polls on November 6 th .
