Garrett's obituary
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Garrett Wood, a remarkable individual of immense courage, kindness, and wit. Born on the 23rd of August, 2000, Garrett passed away far too soon on the 8th of July, 2023.
Garrett is survived by his beloved sister, Siena Wood, parents Erin England and Douglass Wood, Grandparents Sharon and Garrett England, Sherris Goodwin and Marc Kauffman, Great Grandmother Flossie Segal, Aunt and Uncle Heather and Harry Turton, Aunt Kathy Dolan, and Cousins Hadley and Hampton Turton. The bond they shared was one of mutual respect, profound friendship, and unwavering support. His family has lost not merely a brother and son, but a mentor, and a best friend. Garrett's spirit continues to live on through us and the many lives he touched.
Garrett was best known for being strong, brave, witty and mindful. He had a strength that was not merely physical but resonated in his personality and his actions. His bravery was evident in his ability to face adversity with unwavering determination. His wit brought smiles to those around him, and his mindfulness made him a revered friend and confidante.
Among the many lessons Garrett bestowed upon us, the most significant ones include strength, awareness, and peacefulness. He firmly believed in the power of the mind, and encouraged others to be aware of their surroundings and their potential. His thoughtfulness was a trait that made him immensely endearing and comforting to those around him.
Garrett's greatest accomplishment was his unwavering commitment to helping others. His empathy and dedication to bettering the lives of others was evident in his daily interactions. He believed in the power of kindness and was a testament to the impact one person can make.
A Celebration of Life service for Garrett will be held on the 13th of July, 2023, at 5:00 PM at the Carver Recreation Center in Charlottesville, Virginia. All who knew and loved Garrett are encouraged to attend and celebrate the profound impact he had on their lives.
