Garrett's obituary

Garrett Scott Holman

Garrett Scott Holman, 43, of Independence, MO, was embraced by God’s touch on the morning of December 27, 2023. He was born on December 15, 1980, in Kansas City, MO.

Garrett was a true champion of humor, always ready with a witty remark. He was a loving and selfless soul. Many would describe him as a proud father, the best neighbor, a loyal friend, an amazing twin brother, and a momma’s boy.

In his educational journey, Garrett attended John W. Luff elementary, Palmer Junior High, and Truman High School. He further pursued his education at Metropolitan Community College and graduated top of his class in the Police Academy.

Garrett had a diverse career, having worked at AutoZone, Factory Motor Parts, and serving as a Sugar Creek Police Officer. His dedication and commitment to his work were commendable in both industries.

Beyond his professional life, Garrett had a few hobbies that kept him on his toes. Whether he was reeling in a big bass on that perfect Sunday with his buddies, searching for the perfect hunting spot with his son, showing off his bowling skills on bowling night, or tending to his yard and neighbors’ yards with all the important maintenance tips; he lived a life of fulfillment through his passions. Garrett found so much joy in helping his neighbors, his friends, and his family that he incidentally carved out his legacy through his selfless acts.

Garrett is survived by his mother, Cynthia Holman, his father, Gary Holman, his sister, Cammie Colby, his Son Leyton Holman, his Niece, Annistyn Nichols, his aunt, Deborah Messier, his uncle, Matthew Carlson, and his cousins, Melissa Holstrom, Cody Carlson, and Lake Carlson. Garrett was proceeded in death by his Paternal Grandparents, Robert and Irene Holman, his Maternal Grandparents, Leonard and Wanda Carlson, and his Uncle Michael Carlson.

Garrett Scott Holman, you’ve left us with very fond memories. Rest assured, your witty and kind spirit will live on in our hearts forever. May you find eternal happiness in the great beyond, and be surrounded by those who passed before you, as you reel in a big bass and bust into that infectious chuckle that we all knew and loved.
