Garret Lingle, 31, passed away on July 29, 2025, in Durham, North Carolina. Born on December 21, 1993, in Raleigh, North Carolina, Garret brought warmth and light to everyone around him throughout his life.

A calming presence with a sharp intellect and a generous heart, Garret was known for his kindness, quick wit, and gentle nature. His sense of humor brought joy to those fortunate enough to share time with him. He had an extraordinary appreciation for music and film—his taste was both discerning and eclectic—and he loved sharing recommendations that quickly became favorites among friends and family.

Garret’s love for gaming was more than a hobby—it was a reflection of who he was. Often choosing the role of a healer in online games, he embodied compassion and support even in virtual worlds. The Final Fantasy and Monster Hunter series held a special place in his heart, offering both challenge and comfort.

He also had a soft spot for cats and found joy in their companionship. Whether immersed in a favorite soundtrack or powerful movie scene, Garret had a gift for noticing beauty in quiet moments.

Above all else, Garret cherished his loved ones. His family and friends were the center of his world—their happiness meant everything to him.

Garret is lovingly remembered by his mother, Trina, and father, Don; his sister, Amanda, and brother-in-law, Karl; his brother, Derek, and sister-in-law, Jaclyn. He was a proud uncle to his nephews Ethan, Theo, and Finn. Garret will also be deeply missed by his dear friends Greg and Alex. He is also survived by his biological father, Steve; his grandparents Randy and Angie, Hoyle, and Cathey.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Linda Lingle; great-grandmother, Ruby Lingle; and great-grandfather, JR Harris; and great-grandfather F.C.  Buchanan Jr.

May Garret’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire kindness, laughter, and love. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday August 24, 2025, from 03:00 PM to 05:00 PM at Kildaire Farms Racquet & Swim Club 302 Pebble Creek Drive.
