Garnet's obituary

Garnet Lindsey Rhodes: Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend, and Graceful Soul.  Garnet Lindsey Rhodes, 77, of San Diego, California, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023. Born on November 11, 1945, in Long Beach, Garnet was a cherished and vibrant presence to all who knew her.

Garnet attended Sweetwater High School on Highland Avenue in National City, California, where she graduated in 1963. Following her passions and skills, she later pursued a successful career in accounting. Her meticulous and professional approach to her work was admired and respected by her colleagues.

A woman of many talents, Garnet's hobbies included knitting, sewing, and jewelry making, activities at which she excelled. Her handcrafted items were not only beautiful, but they were created with love and care, making them truly special gifts for family and friends. Garnet was undoubtedly a beach enthusiast, taking every opportunity to feel the sun on her face and sand between her toes. Above all, her heart belonged to her children and grandchildren, with whom she loved spending time. Being a grandmother to 17 grandchildren was one of her greatest joys and most rewarding roles she had. You always knew you were loved and cherished when in her presence.

Those who had the good fortune of knowing Garnet would describe her as a kind, nurturing, and graceful individual. She was also known for her sense of humor and infectious laughter, which filled any room she entered. She laughed with her whole heart. As a social butterfly, Garnet had a warm and generous spirit, always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need. She was a cherished friend, whose strong bonds with others often lasted a lifetime. Her devotion to her church and the relief society group and members were truly a blessing and intricate part of what made her so special. Garnet is survived by her beloved husband, Paul Thomas Rhodes, her loving daughters, Jeannie-Marie Colton and Elizabeth Eileen Lee, and the Golden Child, Joshua David King, who will continue to honor their mother's memory and legacy through love and compassion. Garnet's impact on the lives of those around her will forever be remembered and cherished.

We invite those who knew and loved Garnet to join us in celebrating her life, and honoring her memory, by sharing your stories and fond memories. May her bright spirit continue to grace our hearts and minds in the days, months, and years to come. Rest in peace, dear Garnet.
