Gailya's obituary
Gailya Maurita Butler was born on December 5, 1949 in Dallas, Texas and passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at the age of 72 at home surrounded by her family. Gailya is preceded in death by her parents George Sr. and Oneida Benker; and her siblings George Benker Jr., Ray Benker, David Benker Sr., and Joseph Benker.
She graduated from South Oak Cliff High School. Worked as a cook at DeSoto East Middle School for many years, and enjoyed many more as a stay at home mom. She enjoyed being very involved in her children's sports when they were young. She was always involved with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well. Gailya was a very devoted family women, with a heart of gold. She loved the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys, but not near as much as she loved her family and friends. If you knew her, you were lucky to be loved by such a wonderful, giving women. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, ect. She filled many rolls in her life, and lived each day full of love and happiness.
Gailya is survived by her husband of 54 years (March 3, 1968), Charles Hubbert Butler; daughter and son-in-law, Janet Kay Yeager and Randy, of Waxahachie; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Allen Butler and Brandy, of Ovilla; grandchildren Aaron Coventry and wife Leigh Ann; Ashley Jones and husband Joe; April Regalado and husband Eric; Amber Hopson; Kayla Yeager; Brandon Hall and wife Alora; Dakota Butler and wife Mica; great-grandchildren Hayden, Kennedy, Kayden, Alec, Benji, Gavin, Jackson, Harper, Caleb, Hunter, Jaxson. She is also survived by her sister JoAnn Wells, of Mabank, and sister Bessie Brown, of Klondike.
