Gail's obituary
Gail Shourdtcoch, born Gail Maybel Gurthma on June 10, 1942, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026. Known for her vibrant, calm, and even-handed personality, Gail left a profound impact on the people around her, and her legacy of generosity and faith will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Gail graduated from Godfrey-Lee Public Schools, Wyoming, MI in 1959 and found her life partner, Harry Shourdtcoch, the following year. She enjoyed a fulfilling career and retired in 2018, leaving an indelible mark in her professional field.
She was a faithful attendee of the Bethesda Baptist Church and a proud organizer at Lee Salmon Ladies, a community club. Her commitment to causes she cared about, such as Lee's Salmon Ladies, was clear to all who knew her.
Her family was the center of her world. She is survived by her loving son, Jackson Shourdtcoch, her caring daughter-in-law, Marianne Shourdtcoch, and her adoring grandson, Preston Shourdtcoch. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harry Shourdtcoch.
Gail found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She had a fondness for Lorna Doone cookies and the movie "It's A Wonderful Life". She found solace in prayer and loved dining at the local New Beginnings Restaurant. Always ready with sound advice, her best lesson was "Let's Get Up Go Lie Down".
Among her greatest accomplishments was being a proud member of the Salmon Ladies. Her dedication to service and her community was matched only by her faith and the love she had for her family.
As we remember Gail, we celebrate a woman whose life was a testament to strength, endurance, and abiding love. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
