How you can help
My mom grew up in an age of bootstraps and turning the other cheek. When it came to us kids and a few the weren't hers. Her love and strength knew no bounds. She did what she could to keep us fed.
Despite lifelong health conditions and economic hardships, she fought and loved til the end. Hospitalized the beginning of December with a bleeding ulcer and a failing liver. Next came blood clots and kidney failure.
I was able to talk with her before they put her under for dialysis last week. Sunday we had to decide if we wanted let her go gracefully or prolong the excruciating inevitable. I was able to spend the day with her and my brother through video on Monday and sang to her as she passed on the next afternoon.
She was a quiet, no fussing kind of gal.
Hands in the dirt and hugs all around.
She said more than once to do the easiest non fancy thing, cremation. She and my brother lived in SC. He will now be traveling all the way across the US to live with me. He will pack her securely and we will have a ceremony here near the water.
I've asked for 5,000$ to cover her cremation (2,195), ceremony (1,000) and the rest will help cover some of my brother's travel expenses and new home setup. Anything is so very much appreciated. Contribute
